| Sometimes I'll be playing a multi-segment/level game or possibly a mod, such as Half-Life, Portal, Paint Gun Initiative, etc. and I get stuck, needing just a little help, presumably from someone who has successfully completed that section.
Many times someone will have done it, have posted a walkthrough on YouTube showing what was done, but it's "no commentary mode" where they don't tell what they are doing. This is usually okay but it might help where the person mentions if they're activating something. So I'll get the info on that one spot, pause the video, then go back to the game. And that's it until I run into a problem much later in the game. But what really bugs the shit out of me is someone doing a walkthrough where they don't know the fucking game! They're playing the game and describing what they're doing, but it's clear they have no clue at all what's happening, it's like they've never played it. The most agonizing thing is watching some clueless asshole try to solve a problem in the game and it's like I want to yell at him to tell him what he's doing wrong. And sit and watch for five, ten, fifteen minutes until the guy figures out the solution, to which I and others are aware of, having already done it, and would take about 30 seconds. I don't know about you, but I don't need a walkthrough to tell me how they figured out how to solve the puzzle, I just want them to show me the solution so I can get past that one spot and go back to playing the game. |
