The game is in a VERY ALPHA state right now. Apparently it's just a husband and wife team that wanted 10k on kickstarter and ended up with 78k and the whole game is in unity.
The best thing about the game is how it blends maybe the only two creative class systems in MMORPGs, FF14's multiple classes in one character, and ESO's limited hotbar sizes. You have a huge set of combat skills ranging from Psychology to Knife Fighting you can slot two at any given time and only use six abilities from each, so 12 in all with 6 extra buttons for potions and certain abilities like stuff from trade skills or certain combat skills.
This means that your class is always a combination of whatever skills you feel like using, so you can use Lycanthropy and Psychology or use Knife Fighting and Fire Magic. It's really the best of both worlds in that sense. Now skills aren't like most skill based games you level them up more like a class via XP rather than hitting a dummy or something.
That said there are a lot of annoying things, but it's up to you whether that's a plus or a minus. Since there aren't a lot of zones you'll often have some high level cow wizard swoop in and murder all the bears you want to farm
Though I'm enjoying it a lot more than I'll probably enjoy the FF14 expansion leveling experience, though I'm sure I'll like the story and fucking around in dungeons. It's exactly where MMOs should be, looking worse, getting bigger, and simplifying down button bloat. I hope they cross the finish line with it, but I don't know if people would pay a monthly for this. |
