I think this actually makes it worse by fabio 07/25/2017, 5:12pm PDT The strategic map is even shallower than Dark Crusade's campaign. To the point why the hell did they even bother? The individual missions are more forced locked tech trees like any "story mode" RTS campaign. In fact it's more obnoxious because the pace you unlock the stuff is actually slower than the original story campaign. There's two layers of locks on shit: having enough research points AND tiers that everything is locked behind with the only way to advance in tiers is to take out enemy strongholds. But by the time you've taken out strongholds to advance up tiers, the campaign is pretty much over and you're just mopping up. There's more a sense of advancement within any given challenge mission than there is in an entire planetary campaign.
