I understand a whole lot more than you think. Let's see, could it be that black people are more likely to be in high-criime areas? And is it possible that people involved in committing crimes - especially crimes of violence - are more likely to be armed? Perhaps the number of people committing crimes and/or stopped by police where the police officer thinks lethsl force is necessary are much more likely to be black? Realize, more crimes are committed in poor areas than rich areas. At least the ones police can see. A guy wrote about the two most common people that the police, courts and prosecutors deal with. Citizens and "jits." Citizens pay attention to court dates, paperwork and showing up. Jits have no sense of time and don't care about the unimportant things, which is anything except eating and getting laid. Citizens smoke dope in their homes behind closed doors and behind curtains where cops need probable cause and a warrant, Jits smoke dope in public or in their cars where the cops can see and bust them easy. Citizens usually buy their drugs from friends - or kick in when a friend is buying for the group - or they buy from their friendly neighborhood dealer who delivers. Jits buy from street dealers and drug houses making busts easier. Not to raise stereotypes, but I suspect fewer white people are irresponsible jits than black people. And I think that wealthy and successful black people are less likely to be caught or prosecuted, same as whites. OJ Simpson, in his murder trial, was a rich man with good lawyers. He got "white people's justice." A poor, badly represented defendant, regardless of color, will get a much lower level of protection. Let's look at some statistics, again. QZ.com USA Crime Statistics circa 2015 Blacks killed by whites, 2% Blacks killed by police, 1% (This is the number driving all the outrage of the Black Lives Matter crowd.) Whites killed by police, 3% Whites killed by whites, 16% Whites killed by blacks, 81% Blacks killed by blacks, 97% This is similar to 2013 data, a black man is 100 times more likely to be murdered by a non law enforcement black person than by a cop. And six times more likely to be killed by a black person than a white one. And a white person is twice as likely to be killed by a cop than a black person is. |
