Really, I thought the condescension would be directed toward how obvious my prediction was.

Honestly, what I've always liked about you is your propensity to earnestness. I'd never come at you for that, especially because your taste in entertainment and politics is a much more satisfying attack vector.

The context of course is the coming indictments, followed by the likely firing of Mueller, followed by who knows what else. And the purge of cabinet officials and advisors

There is little shockingly new about any of the political gamesmanship.

And the blah blah the undermining of the rule of law and fair elections and the alliance system that's ensured no major war in the nuclear age.

I've mentioned this before, read this and then this. They system was created to contain the Soviets by securing prosperity (through access to trade and energy) for treaty members. Zeihan asserts that recent shale driven US energy independence causes our investment into the Bretton Woods system (not agreement) to be untenable. He predicted this current trade and military restructuring before Trump declared his candidacy and is more recently quoted as saying, "It didn't matter if Clinton or Trump was elected, we were already moving in this direction. Hillary might have done it eight years instead of eight tweets though." Whether you agree or disagree they are worth reading.

Btw, in the last century, in the lead up to WWI, nobody really knew what a major war would look like in the modern age.

True, WWI was the brutal end of what was left of the old world by the post industrial age. Have you ever listened to the Dan Carlin Hardcore History podcasts? Probably, but if not, highly recommended and his "Blueprint to Armageddon" series is a superb exploration of this.

Does anyone know what a major war would look like now?

I typed a book in response, and then felt different after re-reading it. Desperation, death and speculation. If the discussion continues about this topic I'll throw in anything salient that I just deleted out.
