Katana Zero first impressionsby Mischief Maker 05/19/2019, 10:53am PDT
This is a mouse-WASD side scrolling platformer version of Hotline Miami with a much heavier emphasis on story.
You're an emotionally disturbed samurai working as an assassin in modern day. You have the powers of precognition and time-slowing. The story conceit is that each attempt at every room is you using your precognition powers to plan a safe route through dangerous situations. After you clear the stage you see grainy black and white security footage replaying your attempt with the slow-mo parts running at normal speed.
There are lots of dialogue parts between missions and I suspect the replay value is going to come from making different choices on the dialogue trees.
For some dumb reason they didn't give a roll button in the default WASD controls even though it's a crucial move. It's easily remedied in the options menu.
The soundtrack is good so far.
Thanks again, ICJ! I'll write more of a review when I've gotten further.
