Tightening the labor market increases wages and native employment. Employers don't like this. Slow immigration also makes liberals strangely uncomfortable. When liberals and corporations collude to hurt the country ("labor shortage!"), that's what people mean by Neoliberalism, a phrase you may have heard from your favorite podcasts.
