Either way, I can't trust anyone who profits while in public office.
I'm not going to pretend to have any knowledge about anything, especially this. But the reason there's a military-industrial complex isn't so much because of naked greed or aggression, but because even generals need a job, and war is their specialty, so they work at defense firms and keep their powder dry in case a new regime has a spot for them. It's not the greed, it's the moral hazard.
Lawmakers are people too and they have a right to seek out compensation while doing their mostly thankless and low-paid work. Still a moral hazard! Hence the blind trust.
Anybody who wants to flank me on this with facts and logic is welcome to do so because I don't know this area well. |
