It does not enjoy a lot of support among even conservatives. A final vote on it would shatter their chances in November. But it's salvageable and a first step that would stop the market freefall.
Democrats not only refused that first step - even though they helped negotiate it! - they substituted a wish list: funding for the JFK performing arts center, for the NEA, boardroom diversity requirements, vote harvesting nationwide, wind and solar tax credits, airline fuel efficiency requirements. The point is to save the airline and other industries from ruin and they're playing games while the economy crashes. It's really disgusting.
