That comes later in a different chapter when Jim - the teacher in the story - is dating another teacher and drives over to her place to pick her up. I'll just say it, it's not a former British Commonwealth country, so it's drive-on-right.

That comes later in the story when a new Regent is appointed. (The Empire's Regent is similar to a president or prime minister.) Probably 1/2 Vicron Credit, similar to a stamp being 50c here. Size is probably about 23mm x 25mm. Commemorative and picture stamps might be wider, up to 50mm.

This is not part of "The Takeover Man" or "The Locust," just a straightforward fiction story with no mind control. In fact it probably takes place in a different universe. It's also almost 120 years in the future; the story takes place in 2136.
