I waited to read this until I saw it, because I knew it was just gonna be someone shitting on something popular, because that's all these BBSes are for anymore.
You're talking to someone who actually liked Blade Runner 2049, so not being packed with action is the least of its problems and I'm perfectly willing to not shit on something popular if I think it's any good. This is dull. The main character has no personality, I wasn't emotionally invested in the conflict, and a lot of the deaths I think I was supposed to care about seemed stupid. Stupid as in I thought the characters died because they behaved in a way a moron would in that situation. I don't know if that's the book's fault or the movie's.
The movie felt like it was just checking off boxes of things that probably happened in the book without giving me a reason to care about any of it.
I did like the scene where Javier Bardem showed up to meet King Atreides. That was a good scene. |
