I try to stay out of politics on this site. I guess by not modding anything I am involved in reverse. But I loathe Ted Cruz and love Jon Stewart.
We got cable television a little late where I grew up. By the time I was a teenager, there were at least a couple of cable networks running stand up comedians constantly, Jon Stewart being one of them. When I was a freshman at college, I spent a weekend with my girlfriend's family, who were New York City denizens and the miserable type. We went to a comedy club on Friday or Saturday night and Jon Stewart was headlining. I can't tell you what a relief it was to listen to him instead of a bunch of drama-fueled crab asses for an hour. So I'll always like Jon. There is something really screwed up about the US where this amount of heat needs to be applied for people to do the objectively right thing. The bill passed yesterday, I guess, though still had some votes against it. I don't know a lot about the military, so to contextualize it for my own understanding, it seems to me that Rand Paul and Mitt Romney basically voted against Snake Eyes being allowed to wear a helmet.
