I worked at PacBell in CA when Adams was barely just still in the ISDN lab--guys would send him ideas and feel thrilled and singled out when he made cartoons out of what they sent, put them up in their cubes for bragging rights etc. He got published, then syndicated, and was famous for that same business model the entire time--eventually filling rooms with monkeys turning other people's ideas into strips. And almost right away, went into being a bitch for management--"consultant" gigs, retreats, conferences, basically offering a window into the mysterious thought processes of the exploitable.
Long story short, he's a bitch. And the artwork is worse than when he started, quite an accomplishment. I laugh at his predicament now. Plus Danville is a horrible place to live, full of retired lawyers who sue each other at the drop of a hat. |
