First impression: Disappointing. by Mischief Maker 05/03/2024, 7:12pm PDT
The music is shockingly mid. Did LeMatos intentionally scale back the music to better fit the dated visuals?

30 seconds into the game they take away your bike, and the on-foot action is very blah. Maybe I took a wrong turn and the bike was ready and waiting for me down one of the ladders?

All the townspeople I talked to were more generic videogame townspeople than the lovable Cannon Films stereotypes of the movie.

Combat is stiff and awkward, at least on foot. Instead of the instant splatter death weapon with a long recharge time of the movie, the Turbo Glove is a pathetic pea shooter with unlimited charge, and one of your first quests is to recover the kid's crappy machete, which is a huge improvement?! Also the gore effects from killing enemies are lame.

Did I mention how shockingly mid the music is? I can throw myself into a mediocre game with a fantastic soundtrack (see: Black Future '88) but this soundtrack could be in any random indie game, if I didn't recognize occasional motifs from the movie's soundtrack I'd have no idea this was LeMatos.

The one upside is I can confirm the Steam version is DRM-free.

I was prepared for this to suck, I hated the comic too.
