What makes Warriors a great game is the atmosphere, not the gameplay. The gameplay is decent and not bad at all but the real attraction is the way the game makes you feel like you are a part of a real world. The music, dialogue, setting and costumes are all excellent and nothing feels out of place. When playing this game I actually felt little pangs of loyalty if I didn't play for a couple of days because, shit, I am a Warrior! My crew is relying on me to help them get back to Coney Island before the Turnbull ACs find us!
Like Bully, Rockstar can made an entirely new and believable world for people to play in. Also like Bully, a lot of the fun was in exploring the world and not just racing through missions.
You don't need to be a fan of the movie (I have seen the movie once and am ambivalent about it) but you do need to be willing to immerse yourself in order to get the most out of the game.
Got this for a few bucks over the holiday break. On the PS4, via their store. They have emulated or reworked or whatever the PS2 game.
I "played" for 25 minutes. In that time, I watched the cut scenes and got through the first section of the tutorial.
A second tutorial started but I did not want to play any longer. I quit the game. 25 minutes! Surely it auto saved!
It did not. Gonna start me right back at the beginning. Fuck off and never again. |
