Most people around sports are not funny. Writers, broadcasters, players. A few times each generation, we get someone who works in a sport who is genuinely funny, witty and talented. Bob Uecker played in less than 300 major league baseball games. According to at least one stats website he brought negative value in his career by a couple of "wins". If I were picking an all-time baseball team for a sim league, he'd be on my 40-man. Sometimes it's just nice to have a funny guy who is a good man around. |
