They can't rationalize the US winning any other way. God was on their side, you see. Well, I guess that's one way of dealing with it. Not very productive, though. The Christians dealt with being bitchslapped by the Mongols by saying it was the wrath of God brought down on them for their sins. Except the Russians, who dealt with the invasion and conquest of their, er, region (it wasn't really a country) by pretending it never happened. That lead to an interesting lack of any fanfare when they finally kicked the Mongols out . . . how can you celebrate lifting the "Tatar Yoke" if it never fell in the first place?
