Well, in a sense, the Korean war was a show of superpower status; was that wrong?

If making a show was so damn important, why couldn't they just tell us outright that was the reason to go to war instead of all this WMD bullshit?

Well, because WMD *were* still a part if it; without WMD terrorists are a mere nusiance. The war in Iraq was going to happen with or without the WMD issue, but it was yet another message being sent: if even the possibility exists of a government passing WMD on to terrorists exists, then that government can expect itself to be the target of a US Army Infantry Division in fairly short order. It was part of the "shape the fuck up" message. Final effectiveness of all of this? I have no idea, but it does seem fairly clear at this point that that's what the administration is up to.

Gee, I guess the French and Germans weren't being moustache twirling terrorist lovers but, in fact, REALLY DID see through Powel's talk of hundreds of deadly chemicals just waiting to be unleashed upon our big-eyed flaxen-haired children.

What's really sad though is that its not that that the French and Germans (and Russians and Chinese) are really afraid of, what they were/are *really* protesting is a United States that does what it pleases without their voices having any influence. The whole ordeal proved without a doubt just how powerless they really are.
