A little thing called the free market (sound familiar?), in which whoever submits the best bid, whatever their country of origin, gets the contract. Is this radical? I don't think so. Conservatives would have you believe that it is in fact their bedrock ideal, but the "emergency bidding procedure" that got Halliburton this deal proves once again that they are in fact liars. As Gore Vidal said, "In this country we have socialism for the rich, and laissez-faire capitalism for the poor."
