When confronted with one's own shortcomings, anger is normal. You need someone to be angry at, and it doesn't diminish me to be that man. I would do it for anyone, as I will for you.

Reading what you wrote made me sad. The envy is inappropriate: you are a good person and perfectly capable of looking authoritative to stupid people, when you try at it. Your obsession with the moral high ground reflects a lack of faith in your own moral compass, a compass we all carry and may use to navigate the forest of depravity without the need for the false allure of high ground and attendant dangers from lightning bolts of public opinion.

The only "higher standard" I hold anyone to is what I believe to be their best efforts. I believe you can do better, even if you don't.
