In the first Starfleet Command, Interplay went for as faithful a translation as possible from the tabletop game. Except - holy shit! - the complete rules for the tabletop game handily fills a 2 inch binder. So, in the PC game, you drop into your ship and manage several systems and subsystems (just like the tabletop version) in confusing, ponderous tabbed screens while a computer opponent, who knows everything instantly, maneuvers around and lights you up. The first SFC didn't even have a pause feature. Faithful? Yes. Did that automatically mean fun gaming experience? No. They have made significant improvements in the game in later releases, however.
