Focus firing is bad? Didn't know that.
I read each additional unit that fires on a single unit at once incurs penalties to the amount of damage you do.
As for the different units, they appear to be just spiffed up versions of the normal ones. Hwarang are just archers, chevalier are just cav. But I'm not sure. Haven't played the civ with Impids or whatever.
Yeah but I can't tell what they are just by looking at the name. It would be one thing if the game were archer/cavalry/infantry/siege and that's it, but then they go and throw in light infantry, and a bunch of types of cavalry that act just like infantry on a horse: one cavalry is an archer type and is vunerable to archer stuff, or cavalry stuff, I really cant remember. Cavalry are strong against archers, but not slingers??? Gwa? Sacrifice used the rock paper system and just had melee/ranged/and flying and that was it, no flying units that were actually strong against ranged but had the weaknesses of melee.
So I'm totally dependant on the help window saying "counter this unit with (blank)". Ok here's a horse dude with a spear instead of a sword, "Currxzyzzdxs Imperium Horsemen of the apocalypse: counter with Shizzzdlobs, Homos Eroticus, and Oompa Loompas". What the fuck? Ditch the fancy names and just tell me the unit's FUNCTION. Sure it'd look silly to call Midieval footmen "Infantry MkIV", but it'd sure as hell be a lot easier to keep track. My military strategy now is to just click on each unit type five times in the barracks so I have a balanced army and throw it at the enemy.
Is there a "sit yo ass down" button? I try to stand back and let siege engine pulverize his fort while screened with my units, but they keep breaking away to the fort or get baited to it by enemy units. Is there a button scroll through your buildings? Every time you progress an age you have to fumble through all of your buildings to research all the new upgrades. Trying to differenciate the difference between your university, temple, or whatever in the middle of your crowded city is a chore; I just move the mouse everywhere clicking until I hit the one I want.
Also, I'm not sure what to make of the fact that every unit turns into it's own little boat when it hits water.
Loading units into transports has always been tedious in any RTS. I say good riddance. |
