I can understand kissing the electorate's ass. My point regarding Dean is that he made himself look like an idiot by pretending that he'd never given the issue any thought whatsoever despite its proximity to him (his state being the one whose sodomy law was overturned) and refused to give a straight answer on the point. It was only made worse by his follow-up to that mealy-mouth escapade where he insisted that the important thing for a politician was to know the issues and state his position strongly.

Then he punked out on the Bill O'Reilly interview with fourteen hours notice after a rough interview the night before. Not exactly the picture of courage and conviction one would hope for from Dean's own criteria, much less what people would look for in a potential president.
