Fabio's comment regarding hand-to-hand never working in an FPS led me to this:
1) Bloodmoon, the last expansion pack for Morrowind, has werewolves. Who doesn't like werewolves?
2) Werewolves have claws that scratch and maws that bite. I don't personally recall one ever wielding a bow.
3) The entire point of Bloodmoon, much like homosexuality, is to get infected as quickly as possible. Along these same lines, this happens faster for guys than girls because the whole of females playing Morrowind can probably be acknowledged by name (Hi, V.!).
4) You are therefore going to be a -- I am guessing -- melee-only werewolf in this pack.
Does this make the game terribly flawed? Is this the first game ever that got hand-to-hand FPS combat right*? I am expecting the ability to do twists and jumps and turns and engage in some rage if I am a werewolf in a werewolf expansion pack. I'd like to eat hearts and such, but that's secondary to Tearing Shit Up. I do not expect that the entirety of my time will be spent pressing the up arrow, the attack button and then the down button over and over again, like hand-to-hand, toe-to-toe fighting in every other first person shooter, ever.
Is there any innovation in combat in Bloodmoon?

*I can't remember if Die By the Sword was first-person or not. I think it was third. |
