I think Lewis thought, "Well, this is the last one, so I'd better really hit home with all my INCREDIBLY IMPORTANT themes." Naturally, the result was a disaster. I imagine all of the other books have aged better.
I understand that Robert Jordan has figured out a way to stop the last novel from looking like that.
Hey, who's the scifi author that has all his characters spun off into some alternate dimension where they immediately start fucking each other? Is it Heinlein? Bruce Sterling?
