was just for prototype testing purposes. The actual MAME monitor is a 21" Mitsubishi I bought used for $90. So far it's awesome. I also like just looking at it and imagining the 1997 pricetag of $2000 or whatever.

It also helps to emulate the weight of the cab. Nice and sturdy. 21 inches for $90, though... Your land is a Monitor Paradise.

Very pessimistic! You could go buy a cheap 21" right now. This is why your Samsung 750s is so laughable.

I thought the weight would be nice too, but the downside is that the cab is now very top heavy. Especially in a Robotron or Black Widow, I tend to sway the cabinet, as if there is a strong wind. I'll definitely have to add braces throughout the inside.

I suspect that will look perfect with the Space Invaders monitor bezel, which just might infringe a bit on the monitor's real estate when you assemble it. You'd want a border there.

You suspect correctly.

t-molding

...but when you're standing at the controls, you can see 100% of the screen anyway.

Installing the T-molding was a really gay experience, and I'm still not happy with the results, which look less than professional close-up. One day I might rip it all off and fix it, but likely not, because I'm pretty sick of the whole adventure by now. I tell myself that this is only the prototyped control panel layout, but I'm sure I won't bother fixing it either. It'll be a great project for my retirement.
