I've heard that the Core 2 Duo chips are smoking the AMD chips by as much as 70% on some benchmarks, but I really like that $150 price point for the X2. Budget is the same reason that I'm not going to take advantage of a pro-level video card like the Quadro.
If AM2 can't take me through my next processor upgrade cycle, I can at least coast on the RAM and chipset and HDD connections.
