In other news, kung fu was fun tonight. Afterwords I went out to eat and ended up sitting with Mattie, that redheaded girl I mentioned previously who turned out to be 14 but seems so much more mature. I feel like "O Fortuna" should be playing on the soundtrack of my life right now. I don't believe in Fate, but if I did I would be cursing it now for mocking me so viciously. Not only have I encountered the tree of Forbidden Fruit and being forced to look upon its juiciness, but monkeys in the tree are pelting me with the fruit and making me smell it and feel the ripeness of it. Today they nailed me in the mouth and splashed a little juice on my lips so I could taste it too. I desperately want to take a bite. Maybe if I hold out long enough, the fruit will simply be force-fed to me and it won't be my choice to pluck it from the tree.

For some reason, everything I say impresses her. I can apparently do no wrong with her. She's always hugging me because she so approves of my responses to her questions and the other things I say. Tonight she asked me if I liked hugs. I said yes and was rewarded with a hug (one of many I got tonight).

Standing up to leave after dinner was another occasion for a hug. This time, much to my surprise and amazement, she also kissed me and wished me a good night.

So... there that is.
