8/10. It doesn't have the outright scares that the Silent Hill games do (it still has some), but it's a more enjoyable game to play. A lot of games blow their wad right at the beginning with some exciting stuff but then fall flat. The Suffering's main strength is it manages to keep its pace throughout the entire game. There almost no boring stretches to speak of. That's something not even Silent Hill can claim. With smoother combat this game could have been great instead of good.
