It's . . . interesting. How many people out there bought a book of Star Trek artwork and wish you could create a striking likeness of the Enterprise in Galactic Civ 2? (And how many would fastidiously put italics tags in for the Enterprise's name?) Cuz I might be the only one. If so, I'd like to thank the guys at Stardock for making a game just for me. It's awesome, you guys are great. I also made a Reliant model.
The game comes with new starship parts (including a large, saucer-shaped piece with a bulge in the middle . . . ). It comes with upgraded graphics. It comes with a great deal more control over who your enemies are and what they look like. It does NOT come with much in the way of upgraded AI, at least not on my shit Athlon XP 1800. Yes, it's a caveman frustration machine. Supposedly, if you run that thing on a Duo, the AI algorithms will BLOW YOUR MIND. My mind: not blown.
Oh yeah, the espionage system is slightly more complicated, but also proportionally more retarded. I was worried that it'd be tough to master, but actually, you drop agents on enemy agents to neutralize them. You drop your agents on enemy planets, then wait a round for the AI to neutralize them. All secret agents look exactly like Fedora icons. Is RedHat gonna get mad? I would be, because I'd hate for my company logo to be associated with something this gay.
Still the upgrade to the ship-building OCD minigame is at least half the draw for this game, so ME LIKEY! Positive. (For everyone else, I'm guessing negative. Unless you're one of those rich kids with a duo and it's awesome on that system.)
Ask me for my screenshot of the the Enterprise blowing up Krynn fighters! I'll email it to you! It fucking rocks! |
