Have you considered getting Gametap? I got a one year subscription and it was cheap enough that even when I don't use it for a whole month I don't feel ripped off. Their support staff is pretty responsive, which on a game as old as Deus Ex is more than you can say for anyone associated with the original release. Also, a pretty good catalog of arcade games without MAME
I'll tell you what, that looked like a pretty good deal. I'm hesitant to add another monthly bill, but man, if I did Gametap wouldn't certainly be the one. Deus Ex ran well for me after installing a texture pack that Worm recommended (why that would affect stability I have no idea) but having access to a shitload of games I missed when they were new is appealing.
MAME has been behaving for me, but only because I stopped paying any attention to the dev team and recent developments. I'm frozen on .86 and I love it. The MAME "team" are going out of their way to squash anyone attempting a branch and the hypocrisy makes you crazy -- for instance, I found out recently that Warlords uses an overlay for colors. The thing actually has a black and white monitor inside. It's got to be killing the MAME team that Warlords displays with color, as I'm sure they'd all rather we put up that red semi-transparent paper over our monitors.
Er, anyway - yes! Thank you for the recommendation there. Gametap looks like a great deal.
