Mark of Ciaos (demo): not as good as Dawn of Dow by Grumah 07/26/2007, 1:40am PDT First off: voice acting. In most games I can give them a pass for having shitty voice acting, if the game is any good (Resident Evil 1-3, those were shitbag games tho so fuck them, and RE4 had "decent" voice acting OR SEIUU ^_^_^_^_^_^^_^_^___^__^___^_^^^_^^). Um anyway however but. Dawn of War had extremely good voice acting to help sell you on the whole concept of each army. You really got the feeling even from the weak scout units that the emperor was the greatest most holy and right thing to exist. They totally sell you on the "lore" no I mean the STORY of the game. The only slightly least convincing part is when the force commander explains to the traitor Isador unit that it was totally necessary for the existence of life in the galaxy that he perform an Exterminatus on his home planet killing his own family and everyone else. But that's understandable because yano, it's hard to sympathize with that kind of thing in the modern era where great leaders resolve conflicts with words and are all British FOPPITY FOPS (psh?). Mark of chows sells you about 1% as well as Dawn of War did. The human good guys always praise sigmar, but I still dont know what the fuck a sigmar is. Is that their emperor, or the name of the empire, or a nice guy god? I dunno. The chaos units are just stereotypical barbarians. They're even called "norsemen" even tho this clearly isn't Europe. One other critical point, the tutorial trainer captain clearly hates you. He sarcastically mocks you with a big congratulatory speech whenever you correctly scroll the screen with the arrow keys or move your selected units to the big red blinking waypoint that is 10 feet away. His clearly undisguised hatred and eye-wateringly scathing tone is just totally overboard. I did not cry though.... much. ;-;
