This was confusing to whom? It was always pointing foward to the exact same spot.


It wasn't confusing, but I had more than one instance where a zombie starting eating my face because my aim was off when I switched into target mode while I thought I had myself perfectly lined up. Most of the time this was never a problem, it only really came up when I was pinned down. The new targetting makes the interface less clunky. You don't point the gun straight out in front of you and then correct your aim, you aim directly at whatever you were pointing at from the start.
