El Matador: The biggest Max Payne TC ever by Schadenfreude 07/28/2007, 9:42pm PDT So I'm doing my weekly shopping for demoes or demos or whatever you call it when there is more than one "demo" in that language of yours, and I find this thing. Remember Max Payne? The stylish third person shooter which to the day remains the only game ever to get the concept of "bullet time" right? Well, this is pretty much the same, only say goodbye to anything resembling an interesting plot or clever film noir one-liners and say hello to a DEA agent who needs to go down to Colombia to kick some drug lords' asses because those fucking indians cops down there just can't do anything right. Other than that, El Matador plays exactly like Max Payne with the addition of a little gimmick or two, like the possibility to aim with the right mouse button a la every single post-2003 shooter. And of course there's a lot of fancy lighting and shit that makes the game tremendously nice-looking and power-hungry. All in all, it's a pretty solid piece of work. I didn't find any serious issues and it offers a decent challenge most of the times, although it can get infuriating when these jackasses tag along, because they tend bump on you all the time and to not be a really good help either. Luckily, they don't appear that often and they're so lame they die quickly anyway. And they're colombians cops, so there's nothing to worry about. I'm surprised this game didn't get a warmer reception everywhere, because it's actually pretty good. Or maybe it did and I just missed it. There are two demos for the tryout. Funnily enough, each demo weighs in about 1GB, and the complete game takes about 2.5GB. Is that odd or what? With this I am by no means encouraging you to skip the demos and download the full game for good. I'm just sayin'. There also a kit to make your own "El Matador Fansite" in case you really need to O_________o
