I barely have the energy to update this further but: hard drive died this mornin by Jhoh Clbbl O_____O 07/30/2007, 11:06pm PDT g. The computer came with a 120 raptor x 120 gigabyte hard drive (hard drive hard drive hard drive) whatever, it was the system drive and it died this morning out of nowhere, no warning, and no apparent reason. All it did was make clicking sounds when I tried starting up the computer. Took it out. It was pancaked on top of the other hard drive, when I turned it over it had a couple holes that said they were breathing holes and "do not obstruct," and motherhead tells me it was a 10,000 rpm hard drive so it was also bad that there were only 2 screws holding it in (zero screws on the off side). Reinstalled Windows XP for I think the 5th time in the past month, starting completely from scratch with no programs. Had to reinstall Word, work program, Word medical spellcheckers, SP 2, 100 or so windows updates, Pijin, Google mail checker, etc x about 100 other essential programs that I had reinstalled over and over, each time thinking that this should be the last time, and I would really have it this time. I should've had it this time because there was nothing wrong with the hard drive and it was brand new. I had to go to my boss, get the work program yet again (again, 5th or 6th or maybe even 7th time so far), reinstall, get everything set up, so I could actually work today. Called the store and told them they should be responsible, and what about my old case, etc. The guy I talked to seemed sort of understanding (although he told me that it was normal for at least their shop to only use 2 screws per hard drive, he said he used 4, and that Western Digital hard drives are notoriously something something, something about them being easy to break or delicate maybe, which I'm sure is just an excuse). He said he'd have the manager call me, and if he didn't call in a half hour that I should call the store back. A half hour later, the store was closed. I don't know if this hard drive will last for all eternity or die in a day or 2 itself. If it does, I will never ever find out why. Even if it doesn't, I don't think I'll find out why either.
