No one sat me down and explained exactly what the bare minimum level of interest is that I have to show in improving my condition, so I've just been playing it by ear. Usually at the end of our sessions my psychiatrist will ask me if I want to see him again at such and such a time. I always answer "I guess so?" or "if that's what you think" because I'm not really sure if I could say no and still qualify for huge cash payouts. I'd ask my social worker but I don't trust her even a little bit not to try and screw me.
My social worker is also disabled, there's probably a story there about why she got into her line of work so I'm always very careful not to say anything that might encourage her to tell it. But, unlike me, she's "obviously disabled" because she's in a wheelchair, and I always feel like she thinks that makes her disability more legitimate than mine. It's hard explaining why you shouldn't have to hold a job to someone carrying your paperwork in their teeth :( |
