You can't fault them for not wanting to step on any of the spin-offs' toes, as Sexual Victims Unit is 99% about the emotionalities and Criminal Intent is 99% about the psychologicalities. It's especially important (and noticable) when all three series' rip from the same headline - say, the Anna Nicole Smith murder - but with each focusing on a different aspect of the crime (the custody dispute / Anna's relations with her family / the battle of wills between exploiter and exploited [spoiler: Vincent D'Onofrio wins]). |
