Oh, I've got a start/pause/stop story too! by Fussbett 11/08/2008, 2:30am PST
The redesign of our company website was merely a row of thumbnails, and a center stage blank area that played whatever video you clicked on. Our boss demanded a stop button in addition to the already existing single button (either pause or play, depending on state of the movie) because what if you want to stop it?

"Well then you press pause."

"But that only pauses it. I want to stop it."

"What does stopping it do?"

"Clears it from the screen."

"So you just want to go back to a blank screen? You can click any of the other thumbnails to start another movie..."

"I like stopping a movie first."

"OKAY! ^____^" <-- middle manager compromise (sometimes compromise is just obeying (and besides, all it meant to me was walking downstairs and telling the girl building it to put in a stop button)).

I wasn't going to attempt a shifting of his paradigms that were established by VCRs. I'm sure I'd lose and soon be arguing against an "eject" button too.

Stop usually implies that you return to the start position in a movie. by Fullofkittens 11/08/2008, 5:55am PST NEW
