Thaksin appointed Smith Thammasaroj, a retired chief of the department, to head a new committee to set up a national tsunami warning system in conjunction with other Asian countries. OK, first out, these Thai names kick all sorts of ass. "What's your name, boy?" "Smith" "I know a lot of Smiths, boy, be specific." "Smith Thammasaroj" "WTF" But that's apart from what this story DOESN'T say, which is that this will be their SECOND such early warning system. The disgraced forecaster ate the first one. Ray! |
