Why not? Are you afraid it'll be a water valve bludgeoning simulator? Or is the Mental Echo thing too gay? It reminds me of Ghost Ship. (I thought that movie was okay.)
The water valve is a big one. So sure, you start out games like these with some kind of stupid melee weapon, but it seems like they decided they'd be awesome and revolutionary, and this is what they came up with. The sense of self-satisfaction this implies makes me nervous.
The description of the AK-precursor (whatever it's called) makes a big deal out of how sensitive it is to cold. This sounds ominous to me, and not in the way the designers intended.
If the mental echo is a plot device, I'm on board (har har); if it's a gameplay mechanic it will almost certainly suck shit.
The dying of exposure thing is pretty much guaranteed to suck. It won't make the game more tense, it'll make every second a dull, immersion-breaking exercise in min/maxing.
I would really love to be surprised.
Game Developer Guy: "Extreme cold isn't fun. How can we introduce unfun things into our game to simulate that, and remind the player that OMG it's cold?" Let's hope this is not the guiding philosophy of the game. |
