GP2X review - :( by Entropy Stew 06/25/2006, 6:23am PDT Video player - 2/10: codec support is too limited to be useful, unless you happen to be encoding the vids by yourself. I tried about 3 files and none came up Ebook reader - 1/10: By "ebook" they mean .txt files. Assholes. Music player - ?/10: I have an iPod Photo viewer - ?/10: I don't want to view photos on this Hardware - 6.5/10: The digital thumb joystick requires too much travel. I'd have much preferred a D-pad. Dual-core 200mhz ARM processor would have likely done better as a faster single core. Build quality is decent, and the screen is nice. Seems a bit flimsy compared to a DS or PSP, though. Games (native) - 1/10: The one is for that one game you can buy Games (emulated) - 3/10: The MAME port has been disappointing so far. The Genesis emu is quite good. The SNES emu is slow. Haven't tried the others yet. Hackability - 10/10: The system is wide open for whatever you want to homebrew or port to it Overall - 3/10: I thought I'd at least get a portable video player and ebook reader out of this if none of the emu stuff worked well. OOPS
