On the broader subject of XBLA, I finally got around to Limbo last week. It starts strong, looking like it's going to be the story of a pragmatic little boy trying to survive in a big, wonderful, inhospitable world, but about halfway through they stick you in some kind of abstract puzzle factory where you spend the rest of the game pushing crates to no apparent purpose. Metaphor for adulthood? Or just plain lazyness? Judging by the increasingly minimalist presentation and disappointingly open-ended conclusion, I'm inclined to suspect the latter. |
