Final Impressions
Awesome all the way through. I can't think of a non-awesome moment. As if to flaunt how paradigm shifting the game is, Resident Evil 4 even had a MINECART level, except this minecart level was just another highlight in the Resident Evil 4 crown of jewels made from sunshine. My ending stats were as follows:
HIT RATIO: 60% ENEMIES KILLED: 974 COMPLETION TIME: 38:48'57"
I'm bummed there was no final cash-out of all my goods. I had money and unsold treasures on me when the game ended. I guess all that dough will be put towards wooing Hunnigan. I also forget what my total number of deaths was, but it was huge. Like 60. The completion time is a bloated 38+ hours because I left it running all day one time when I didn't have a handy save point. So I guess the lack of "save anywhere" is an issue if you can't just leave your 'Cube on. Subtract 21 hours from that total to arrive at my actual time of around 17+ hours. A more fun 17 hours cannot be had. FABIO will be happy to know that the after-game mini-games are great. Mercenaries mode is a very hard time limited test of how many zombies you can kill. Unexpectedly, Resident Evil 4 is the game that closest captures the Half-Life 2 promise of barricading doors from intruders. You'll be angling your back against corners, kicking over ladders and pushing funiture across paths to prevent zombies from flanking you. Mercenaries mode is 3 minutes of fun panic. Resident Evil 4 also features the worst ending dialogue of all time, which makes it a really good ending, accidentally. Hurry up and finish so we can all talk about our favourite parts.
