So when I was like.... <i>five</i>, I would play My Little Pony with the girl across the street. The discussion about how we were playing ponies was basically like this: Zseni: let's have the Ponies gathering apples in an orchard! Then they can make applesauce! (By which I meant I would get applesauce from the jar in the fridge and pour it into my toy teacups and put the teacups in the vicinity of the Ponies. Success!) GATS: Okay. They're all in the orchard, and then one of the Ponies starts to go crazy and hurts the other Ponies and.... (long rape/abuse fantasy, which got worse as Boy Ponies started emerging on the Pony market.) <i>Every single time</i>. And I would keep trying to establish some Pony or another as Rescue Pony who would put all the bad Ponies down (it never occured to me to have Team Rescue Pony,) but Evil Rape Ponies were always more numerous and powerful. Sometimes GATS would accede to my request for non-violent Pony play, but she would act hugely bored by it. Not that it was babyish, per se, just that she found it dull. But when she saw one of our family socker-bopper matches, she was totally horrified and accused my parents of child abuse!
