Most dissapointing game of 2004.

Just to get a reading on his taste in racing games, he goes on to call Eve of Destruction everything that Burnout 3 should have been, and the 2nd best game of 2004.

EoD was concentrated meh. In a game where the entire point is supposed to be demolition derbies, you'd think it'd have satisfying crashes, but the exact opposite is true. Even Twisted Metal Black, where the whole point was missiles and crashing was an afterthought, had more satisdying crashes. EoD goes for the "realistic" demolition derby model where the crashes are gentle nudges at 15 mph.

Absolutely, AND, Burnout 3 is a technical marvel where the genius math actually pays off not only by wowing your eyeballs but also by turning your stomach and creating a game that feels faster than any prior racing games. Eve of Destruction is standard PS2-looking slow-paced low-fps game where they poured a lot of time into game variations to achieve a great replay value. I don't know why this is so prefered by some people, but my hunch is that they're old, and Burnout 3 feels like Rotterdam techno, while Eve of Destruction is mid-tempo rock and roll.
