Because you can just post a message here (like you did).
Is that a BOOK of icycalm's? I can't believe that shrill faggot went to the bother of putting his inane nonsense into actual paper. That's the funniest thing I've ever seen. Thank-you for posting it.
It's not even coherent nonsense. The first page and a half are him ranting on how people attribute him to liking scores when NOTHING COULD BE FURTHER FROM THE TRUTH. There's something to be said for having your thesis statement as the last sentence of your first paragraph, especially when you're not a good writer. What's his?
Icycalm wrote:
But that's subhumans for you: studies even show that strictly speaking, subhumans do not read , but merely skim, registering at most two or three words out of several dozen, and making the rest up (blah blah blah)
After going on about his valuable e-reputation, he finally makes a point. But what's most bizarre is that his most of his coherent arguments undermine what (I think) he's trying to say.
Icycalm wrote:
IT IS STUPID TO EQUATE ARCADE GAMES WITH SCORING since many of them EITHER DON'T HAVE SCORING or have scoring systems that are obviously gratuitous and superfluous.
He also makes two points in one and a half pages that I'll summarize. One, arcade games are hard to finish so scores helps players feel like they're making progress even if they lose. Two, scores help provide replay value to games. There's thirty pages to the end so let's just skip to the conclusion to see how he countered these arguments, since all good conclusions should summarize your overall arguments.

So finally we realize the scoring debacle came about due to natural, historical reasons, and is being perpetuated and even exacerbated and apotheosized, despite it's obvious obsolescence, by:
1. The stupidity, incompetence and commercial considerations of designers (who lack the intelligence necessary to understand why scoring mechanics are inimical to progress, the talent necessary to keep complexifying their games with properly integrated mechanics, and who moreover need the dual mechanics model so as not to scare away new players).
2. The stupidity, exhibitionism and lack of proper life experiences of the aspies ( who etc ...)
3. The weakness and stupidity of new players and casual players (who etc ...)
Besides the random CAPITAL LETTERS, italics, sentence fragments, and run-ons he also ends a lot of sentences with parenthesis. |
