I can understand this by fabio 05/08/2012, 3:37pm PDT It was fantastic for its time, and I still think everything holds up... ...except for the cave level, which unfortunately takes up a full third of the game. They had a great mysterious alien world with a jailbreak buddy chase going on where you used contextual clues to escape your pursuers, then promptly ditched it all during the cave where you had to perform precise jumping puzzles in a game with atrocious animation lag. Flashback I disliked from the get go. It took out everything that made OotW good (cool alien world, seamless puzzles, plot entirely without dialog) and tried to turn it into what it wasn't (sidescrolling shooter). What made me finally quit playing was the savepoints not restoring your shields. If you had a bad run that depleted all your shields then unknowingly hit a save point, you were pretty fucked. You really couldn't avoid taking a hit or two in some parts, and replaying it over and over when you saved with zero shields was Battletoids frustrating.
