This argument is just stupid. I don't have to be Dawes Rolls Creek to say that some racist shit is racist.

Sure, there are times when not being a member of the group in question means that you don't get a say in positions involving that group. My opinion of the divide in feminism between white women and women of color is neither needed nor wanted. No one cares what I think about the Hawaiian sovereignty movement. But these are nuanced, multifaceted issues where one's personal life experiences as a member of that specific group has a specific and unique effect on one's outlook.


It's possible I hate social justice so much that it is clouding my vision. I can cop to that.

Also, since mankind has slaughtered Native Americans so much, I guess it is sort of shitty to say that only they can have an opinion about it. There are far less of them TO have an opinion about it. So I was wrong there.

When I see pasty, weak cretins on Metafilter brag how they hate organized sports while proclaiming how horrible the Redskins name is, it makes me think the name is fine if it is pissing off those submentals. This is horrible. I realize that.


Although a bunch of print journalists are coming around, I don't think anything will change until ESPN is pinned down and forced to stop acknowledging the name. How that comes about (and eventually it will) will be super interesting; all of the executives there are spineless cowards and fail to realize that when you sign a broadcast rights deal for $15.2 billion, the other guy is just as scared of you as you are of him.


If I had to throw together a guess, it seems like Snyder is the kind of guy who wouldn't change the team name because he doesn't want people telling him what to do. Which I find pretty funny because his decision making since he has been with the Redskins has been shit. He fucks up and does something colossally stupid every time he makes the news. Suing reports, charging for parking at practice, etc.

Changing the name to something sensitive has the same chance of occurring as the press would have making him eat brussels sprouts.

I am glad you are here to talk football, by the way. The pussy trolls in this thread are valueless.
