A guy who has a 20-year-old gas eating car that's a banged up rust bucket and spends more time in the shop than on the road has a 'piece of shit'.
A guy who has a 40-year-old well-maintained daily driver in operating condition clearly does not have a 'piece-of-shit.'
A guy who has a 15-year-old polished car that is inoperable but kept around for display purposes because it looks beautiful has a piece of shit. A polished turd, but still a turd.
A guy with a banged-up 18 year old machine held together with baling wire, but has 500,000 miles on the clock but still runs and can be used as transportation has an old car, but since it's still usable it's not (yet) a piece of shit.
A computer is downgraded to a 'piece of shit' when it can no longer be used for any usable work.
