Simulations tend to appeal to dudes with more money than sense who don't mind spend a shitload of additional money to get better hardware...



...who want their investment to pay off in authenticity, whereas console gamers want to own and play games that their friends want to play and it makes more sense if everyone has the same rig.

Remember: the first generation of PC gamers were rich white guys who all wanted to own 4-seater planes someday, and the first generation of console gamers were kids playing Combat on Atari.
